Coming from Asia, we were hoping for some good soup for a cold winter night. Stumbled upon Sanukiya on Yelp and decided to give it a try.
Definitely not disappointed. We were lucky that the wait wasn't too long and it didn't took long for the food to come. Service was also excellent as well : ) -

1. Casually bookmarked this because it popped up on Google Maps.
2. Stumbled around the Louvre for two hours because half of the directions to the Mona Lisa were incorrect. Let's be honest, you only go once and never again.
3. Walk hangrily to Sanukiya at 3pm to realize there's a line outside and think, "But why???" and then see the 10 Michelin stickers on the window.
4. Oh. Maybe this is good.
We were totally caught off guard by the Michelin recognition but very down to try it since the line was so short. I'd say that 3-4:30 pm on weekdays is the perfect time frame without a wait. Plus, there's that happy hour side menu with large beers for the price of the small.
Loved the A-lunch set side of rice, kaarage, and eggs (and I would get this for a full portion with a side of udon if that were an option). Decent udon, but nothing outstanding. Would go again... just during the hour and a half of no lines :) -

I got the Misotama Udon! Since I was solo traveling, I got a seat a little bit earlier than other 2+ person groups. Service was fairly quick and my udon came out in about 10 minutes.
The broth was okay, and the noodles were also just okay. I like Marugame Udon (SF location)/Marukame Udon (Honolulu location) much better. It was refreshing to eat some Asian noodles after eating solely European food, but I think there was quite a bit missing in the flavor.
Also, there was a family of 7 that finished eating and they stayed and chatted for perhaps 20 minutes. Don't do that. Go chat at a cafe or literally anywhere else since there's a line outside! -

To be traveling all the way to Paris from Vancouver and getting udon could sound silly, but we just had to do it because we've heard so many good things about this place from friends. We definitely did not regret our decision nor waiting in line for an hour for our meal. Our party of 3 ordered different dishes but we were all very happy with our noodles. The texture was chewy and bouncy, the soups were delicious and not overly salty. Their combo meals were an awesome deal, so I'd go for that if you're quite hungry (I'm sure you'll be hungry after waiting in line which is inevitable at this place lol). All in all excellent experience and we will definitely return when we're back in Paris.

Living in Gardena, California, perhaps I should have thought twice about eating udon in Paris, but the reviews were so good and I needed a break from French food. We waited for about 15 minutes or so for a table, which wasn't too bad, but it was also pretty late for lunch by that time. I thought the udon and broth was good, very simple but I don't mind. I liked the large shrimp tempura in my udon. The beef was also tasty. Service was quick! If you're in the mood for udon in Paris, then this is the place to go.
